We’re all well aware that society is full of flaws, most of us has become selfish in the pursuit of our own happiness. However Austrian illustrator Gerhard Haderer has been creating brutally honest illustrations for decades and he questioned why today’s society is far from perfection.
Gerhard Haderer was able to develop his realistic style when he chose his profession as a cartoonist and illustrator for advertising companies at the beginning of his career.
In 1985, he did a cancer surgery and abandoned his commercial dreams. Finally, he became a freelance caricaturist and satirical illustrator.
Gerhard Haderer had even faced court for one of his books called “The Life of Jesus” which has triggered and pointed out certain violations in Europe, especially from the Catholic Church. The story culminated in 2005 when Haderer was sentenced in Greece for insulting religions. He has received a 6-month suspended sentence in absentia.
A few months later, this inscription was amended after an appeal, and Gerhard Haderer was acquitted.
